Author Guidelines

Authors who wish to submit a manuscript to the IJournal of Education in Middle East and North Africa (JEMENA) are expected to comply with the following rules and guidelines. All submissions undergo a preliminary check and a double-blind peer review process.


1. Article Types

JEMENA accepts original scientific studies in the following formats:

  • Research Article

  • Case Report

  • Narrative Review

  • Systematic Review

  • Meta-Analysis


2. Language of Manuscripts

  • Manuscripts must be submitted in full text, in English.

  • The language used should be scientific, clear, and comprehensible.

  • Authors are responsible for the accuracy of grammar and spelling.


3. Formatting and Structure

  • Manuscripts should be prepared in Microsoft Word format, on A4-sized paper, with double spacing.

  • Font: Calibri, 12 pt

  • Margins: 2.5 cm on all sides

  • Page numbers must be included.

Manuscripts should be organized into the following sections:

  • Title

  • Abstract (150–250 words)

  • Keywords (3 to 5 keywords in English)

  • Introduction

  • Method

  • Results

  • Discussion

  • References


4. Referencing Style

  • References must be formatted according to the APA 7 (American Psychological Association) style.

  • All sources must be listed alphabetically at the end of the manuscript.


5. Ethical Principles and Ethics Committee Approval

  • For research requiring ethics committee approval, the name of the committeeapproval date, and decision number must be clearly stated on the cover page.

  • The ethics approval document must be uploaded in PDF format to the system.

  • Case reports must include a statement indicating that informed consent was obtained.

  • Review articles should include a note stating that ethics approval is not required.


6. Plagiarism and Similarity Report

  • All manuscripts are screened using iThenticateTurnitin, or intihal.net.

  • The total similarity index must not exceed 20%, and similarity from any single source must not exceed 3%.

  • A similarity report must be uploaded at the time of submission.


7. Submission Conditions

  • The manuscript must not have been previously published or be under review by another journal.

  • All authors are responsible for the content of the submitted manuscript.

  • An author may publish only one article per issue and a maximum of two articles per year.


8. Open Access and Copyright

  • JEMENA is an open-access journal.

  • All published articles are licensed under the Creative Commons BY-NC-ND 4.0 license.

  • Authors grant permission to publish without transferring copyright to the journal.


9. Submission Steps

  • Register and log into the journal’s submission system

  • Upload the manuscript, plagiarism report, and any additional documents

  • Upload the Author Contribution FormConflict of Interest Statement, and Ethics Statement

  • Undergo preliminary check and initiate the peer review process
